After attending the University of Missouri and majoring in English and Art, Lyn married Haywood Walker who had an engineering degree. Haywood's father owned a printing shop and Haywood worked there with his father. When his father retired, Haywood took over the shop and is still in the printing business. However, because of the electronic contrivances we now have, the time of big presses has passed. So while Haywood and Lyn run the printing business, they have also picked up other businesses - the most time consuming one of them being LynWood Equine Inc. More about that in a few minutes.
Lyn and Haywood had two boys. The elder one, Collin, and his wife Kelly work in the businesses with Lyn and Haywood. Collin majored in Computer Science in College, a skill which is very helpful in the businesses the four of them are conducting. The younger one, Kent - is married to a commercial artist, Angela, and he has a master in Environmental Sciences. He works in the field of water conservation and other ecological areas.
Haywood's parents lived on a several acres of land outside Liberty, Missouri. Liberty is a small town very near Kansas City, Missouri. The parents had quite a bit of land, and Lyn and Haywood decided to build a home for themselves on the property. It is a unique home for several reasons. They designed the home themselves, and it emulates the style of a Scottish castle. In addition, although it was built a number of years ago, they included solor power in the design. Theirs was the first house that I saw with solar power.
Lyn has always loved animals - particularly horses, and in fact was a prize winning rider in competitions. The farm area they live on has cattle and horses. Lyn and Haywood at some point in their travels became aware of a kind of flooring for a barn that is much better for the horses than is he usual flooring. And they became well enough versed in this field that they could sell and install this type of flooring. In order to sell it they have to travel around the country doing "shows". A show is a place where many merchants of similar products come together to show their wares to customers.
Once each year Lyn and Haywood travel eastward from Missouri and do a show just outside the area where we live. Then they go further east to do another show before going home. So once a year, they stay with us for about a week and we have a chance to spend some time with them.
My pictures of them are mostly from the show, although I do have a few others. On the following pages I will have pictures of them at the show. Also there are many horses and horse exhibitions held at the show, and I have some pictures of these too.
