Dogs of the World

There are a great many breeds of dogs in the world.  Martha and I have had dogs all our lives, and they seem like part of the family.   A short article and pictures of our more recent pets is included on this site.  And we have always enjoyed the  dog shows on televisions.  But recently I came across a breed which was new to me, and in gathering information about the breed I again realized how little I know of the various types of dogs there are in the world.

So, I have decided to find out more about various breeds around the world, and will enter information as I gather it here.  As a result there will also be many pictures of dogs. 

Not matter how we start, we will end up with lists of dogs.  And lists of dogs can be sorted in a number of ways.  So far I have not found one list that is complete no matter what the sort of the dogs is.

There are lots more lists, and ways of grouping dogs.  However, the breed  that had started me on this project -  Chongqing Dog - is not on any of these lists.  

This is a fact which puzzles me.  So my next step will be to find out more about his dog, and why it is not on any of the lists I have above.  Of course we can understand why this dog in not on the AKC lists.  But that still leave three lists unexplained.
