Description Of Pages in Roger’s Den

Comments Welcome 评论表示欢迎

This site is UNDER CONSTRUCTION so don't be surprised by many changes on subsequent visits. I can only hope that you will bear with me while I try to get it up and running.

I have several additions I want to make to the site, but have not yet mastered the technology needed to implement them.

As of August 21, 2008, this is a description of the site.

 The reasons for starting the Den are presented in about Roger's Den

Every page of the site has a link to a feedback utility.  Using the comment welcome button leads to two possible feedback mechanisms.  One is a public forum on which one can make a comment and others can also respond to that comment or can make a different comment.  The other is a private forum which comes as an email to me, and only I view it.

Home (main page)

This page is made up of a group of news items which includes commentary by Roger and quotes of a philosophical nature.

The Weather button on the first page takes one to a page of cities showing the weather for the next four days in centigrade and in farenheit.  Above each city is the name of a few of the readers of this site.  The line holding the names links with a map showing the city of the reader in relation to their country.

Site Description (under Home)

This page is an explanation of each page of the site and is linked to the description of the original purpose of creating this site.

Archive (under Home)

Material previously in other parts of the web page which are no longer deserving of major focus in that area.  As an example we may have a news story that was a top news story for a week or two, and while still interesting, does not deserve top billing.  Such an article may be moved to this Archival area.  At some time in the future there will be an effort made to have an easy method of research to find the archived material.

Judgements

This is a group of WAN links which show the negative effects of reaching conclusions too fast. Included in this group are cases that involve the willful withholding of factual evidence. They are usually cases that are or have been in a court and involve a variety of crimes including treason. Many of the cases involve the sentence of execution.

The point of the whole group of articles is to get people to think about how we make decisions – to observe what thought process function and malfunction in general trials.

The articles are both current and historical and include a description of the Innocence Project.

My family

Pictures of my immediate family, and links to autobiographical articles.

Articles

Links to autobiographical articles, and links to three groups of articles. These articles are grouped into:

Environmental Issues;

Mental Health Issues; and,

Civil Rights, Free Speech, and Constitutional    issues.

In the Constitutional Issues section there is a link to a collection of more than 50 very famous trials from 399 BC to 2006 AD.

Photographs

As the name suggests there are a variety of types of photographs. There are pictures of family, friends, and pets. Some are single shots and some are slide shows. There are shots of animals in the Detroit Zoo, and of buildings and houses that interest Martha and me.

Blogs, Tools, and things

  • There are less serious quotes.
  • A list of blogs that I enjoy is presented
  • Some software tools I like including Cplanet – a very good map utility.
  • A link to a large batch of articles that deal with man’s involvement with time:
    • History of timekeeping from ancient to modern times
    • Systems of counting the days, months, and years.;
    • Advances in timekeeping accuracy and atomic clocks.
    • AND MANY MORE.

Buildings & Houses

Photographs and text about houses and buildings that interest Roger and his family.
